The name of the hotel first appeared in the first official artwork for GTA 6, which features the game's two main protagonists, Lucia and the still-unnamed male playable character, with Vice Beach and the aforementioned hotel as their backdrop.

Based on its location and similarities, the Atlantis Hotel is based on the Beacon Hotel [1], a popular hotel located along Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, Florida.

A hotel based on the same real-life establishment appeared in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City under the name, Deacon Hotel.

The hotel is also featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories but is unnamed.
