New GTA Trilogy Update on the Way Following Major Patch
It's been less than a week, and another update for the GTA Trilogy is already on the way to address more persistent issues.
Three years after its rocky launch, Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition is finally getting the attention it deservers; the attention fans have been demanding. Rockstar Games has been steadily working to improve the remastered collection - alongside another studio - with their latest efforts focusing on resolving persistent technical issues.
The most recent update addresses a specific bug in the San Andreas mission "Breaking the Bank at Caligula's," where players encountered a problematic safe door that refuses to explode. Rockstar acknowledged the problem on its official support page, stating that they are actively working on a solution.
This response suggests a new patch may soon be on the way. Rockstar insider @videotechuk_ even noted backend activity on Steam indicating that new builds are being tested, which further hints at an incoming fix. For players struggling with the mission, Rockstar has provided a band-aid solution. Check out the steps below:
- Intentionally fail the mission (by killing CJ or Woozie)
- Cancel the mission retry
- Save at a nearby safehouse
- Restart the game
- Reload the saved file
- Restart the mission
The update follows a major patch last week that introduced several improvements, including a "Classic Lighting" option designed to recreate the original games' atmospheric look and feel. Players can now enjoy enhanced visuals that bring back the nostalgic essence of the original GTA titles.
Additional improvements include more fluid gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to run and gun with larger firearms like shotguns and flamethrowers. Though these changes were long overdue, it's always nice to see game developers listening to community feedback and actually implementing fixes across all platforms.
The Definitive Edition initially launched to widespread criticism back in 2021 for its technical shortcomings, but these continuous updates suggest Rockstar is determined to transform the Definitive Edition into the remaster fans have long hoped for.
After three trying years, the GTA Trilogy might finally live up to its "Definitive" name.
